Support for coverage of donor milk for preterm infants is being negotiated in the New York State budget now!

Our elected officials need to hear from you ASAP.  This will not happen without your help.

Call the Governor's Office and your State Senator and Assemblymember to help make this a reality!

Please support the budget measure for coverage of pasteurized, donor breast milk reimbursement for premature infants, the tiniest, most vulnerable New Yorkers.  This measure will save New York State approximately 7 million dollars a year, while sparing our most critically ill newborns from potentially fatal infections and intestinal disease while their mothers recover to ultimately produce their own breast milk.

NYSPA has been an integral member of this effort over the last 3 years.  Our organization helped write the legislation upon which this budget measure is based and has been one of its most vocal champions over the past 3 years.  Our members have met with state legislators about this issue, performed cost-analysis of the money it will save and have presented these findings in multiple meetings with the Department of Health.

Never have we been closer to getting this life-saving measure included into the state budget!
