The New York State Perinatal Association advocates for improved perinatal care through a variety of advocacy activities that promote maternal child perinatal health & well-being. NYSPA may support, endorse or aide in the development of position statements related to perinatal health, and may actively support or oppose legislation that may impact perinatal health and well-being.
When necessary NYSPA may take a lead role on maternal child health issues in order to raise awareness and promote support. NYSPA is committed to coalition advocacy, and may collaborate with many organizations who work to improve perinatal care, including but not limited to the March of Dimes, ACOG, AWHONN, AAP, and ACNM.
NYSPA will not endorse products or services, but will provide expertise and support to influence development of education, policies and practices that promote the well-being of mothers, infants and the family.
NYSPA will consider requests for position statement endorsement from other professional organizations in order to improve care, access, services and benefits that improve maternal child health.
