NYSPA Lunch and Learn: “Changing Birth to Change the World; The Science and Consciousness of Humanized Birth”
Description: Birth is far more than a clinical event — it is the first physiological, emotional, and relational experience of human life. Growing scientific evidence from neurobiology, psychophysiology, microbiome research, and epigenetics confirms that the way we are born has profound and lasting effects on physical health, emotional regulation, bonding, and social development. This presentation will explore the current global state of the humanization of birth, integrating scientific evidence with decades of clinical experience in diverse birth settings. It invites educators, doulas, psychologists, health professionals, and anyone working with birthing women and families to reconsider birth as a foundational moment for individual and collective well-being.
Speaker: Dr. Rodrigo Aybar, OB/GYN, Panama — Former Chief of Labor and Delivery at the Metropolitan Hospital Complex (CSS), Perinatal Sonologist, Coordinator of the “Family Centered Maternity” Initiative, WHO Consultant (Nicaragua), Founder of Parto Natural Panamá, and Strategic Advisor (El Salvador). He served as an international consultant for the drafting and implementation of the Nacer con Cariño Law (Respected Birth Law), including clinical protocol development and nationwide hospital training.
